Quadricuspid pulmonary valve in an adult patient identified by transthoracic echocardiography and multi-detector computed tomography.
نویسنده
چکیده
Quadricuspid pulmonary valve is a rare congenital heart disease. It is infrequently associated with significant clinical complications and tends to be clinically silent. Because of its benign nature, it has been diagnosed mainly post mortem. Its diagnosis by transthoracic echocardiography is very difficult because of the anatomical features. We describe a case of quadricuspid pulmonary valve diagnosed by transthoracic echocardiography and electrocardiography-gated multi-detector row computed tomography.

Quadricuspid pulmonary valve complicated with aneurysm of pulmonary trunk diagnosed with ECG-gated computed tomography.
Quadricuspid pulmonary valve (QPV) is an uncommon congenital defect reported in the general population with a frequency of up to 0.25%. The defect usually does not cause severe clinical complications and its presence frequently remains clinically silent. Moreover, there are several difficulties in visualization of pulmonary valve using basic diagnostic modalities such as echocardiography. There...
متن کاملQuadricuspid pulmonary valve identified by transthoracic echocardiography.
The quadricuspid pulmonary valve is a rare congenital anomaly. It tends to be clinically quiescent. Its diagnosis by two-dimensional echocardiography could be very difficult because of the anatomical features. We report on the echocardiographic findings of a 66-year-old female patient with mitral and aortic regurgitation of rheumatic origin and severe pulmonary hypertension. There was an aneuri...
متن کاملComplete Preoperative Evaluation of Pulmonary Atresia with Ventricular Septal Defect with Multi-Detector Computed Tomography
OBJECTIVE To compare multi-detector computed tomography (MDCT) with cardiac catheterization and transthoracic echocardiography (TTE) in comprehensive evaluation of the global cardiovascular anatomy in patients with pulmonary atresia with ventricular septal defect (PA-VSD). METHODS The clinical and imaging data of 116 patients with PA-VSD confirmed by surgery were reviewed. Using findings at s...
متن کاملA jumping left atrial thrombus connected to a pulmonary vein thrombus using transthoracic echocardiography and 64-slice multi-detector computed tomography
Few studies have reported the differences between transthoracic echocardiography (TTE) and 64-slice multidetector CT (64-MDCT) in identifying left atrium (LA) thrombi. I report the case of a 70 year old man with coronary artery disease and angina who was diagnosed with a thrombus in the left lower pulmonary vein extending to the LA using a non-invasive 64-MDCT scan and TTE. TTE was unable to cl...
متن کاملMorphological and Functional Evaluation of Quadricuspid Aortic Valves Using Cardiac Computed Tomography
OBJECTIVE The aim of this study was to identify the morphological and functional characteristics of quadricuspid aortic valves (QAV) on cardiac computed tomography (CCT). MATERIALS AND METHODS We retrospectively enrolled 11 patients with QAV. All patients underwent CCT and transthoracic echocardiography (TTE), and 7 patients underwent cardiovascular magnetic resonance (CMR). The presence and ...
